Thursday, 8th Week in Ordinary Time Year II
“Jesus does not only open our eyes; He also changes our direction.”
Today’s Gospel (Mk 10:46-52) tells us about blind Bartimaeus sitting by the roadside, begging. He was blind, poor, and ignored by many. Yet when he heard that Jesus was passing by, he cried out with faith: “Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me!” People tried to silence him, but he shouted all the more.

How many times are we like Bartimaeus?
There are moments when we also sit by the roadside of life—discouraged, wounded, confused, or spiritually blind. We may still see physically, but sometimes we no longer see clearly what truly matters: God, family, kindness, prayer, forgiveness, or our purpose in life.
The beautiful thing is this: Jesus always stops for those who call on Him sincerely.

Notice that Jesus asked Bartimaeus: “What do you want me to do for you?” Of course Jesus already knew he was blind. But Jesus wanted Bartimaeus to express his desire with faith. And Bartimaeus answered simply: “Master, I want to see.”
