Daily Catholic Reflection, 16 JUNE 2026

Jesus reminds us that loving only those who love us is easy. Anyone can do that. The real challenge is to love those who hurt us, disappoint us, or oppose us. Christian love is not merely a feeling; it is a decision to forgive, to pray, and to wish the good of another.
Father Ruben Galang,CRS (Somascan Fathers)

What a comforting lesson! No matter how far we have fallen, God never closes the door to repentance. He does not delight in punishment; He delights in conversion. God always gives us another chance.

The Gospel takes us even deeper into the heart of God. Jesus says:

“Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”

Why does Jesus ask us to do something so difficult?

Because that is exactly how God treats us.

Before our conversion, we were sinners. Yet God continued to love us. Before we sought forgiveness, God was already seeking us. The mercy shown to Ahab is the same mercy God shows to us every day.

If God can be patient with us despite our faults, can we not be patient with others?
