Jesus reminds us that loving only those who love us is easy. Anyone can do that. The real challenge is to love those who hurt us, disappoint us, or oppose us. Christian love is not merely a feeling; it is a decision to forgive, to pray, and to wish the good of another.
When we pray for those who have wounded us, we begin to see them through God’s eyes. Our hearts become less bitter and more compassionate. We become more like our heavenly Father, whose love shines on both the good and the bad.
Today, let us remember: we are all like Ahab at times—sinners in need of mercy. And because we have received mercy, we are called to extend that same mercy to others.
The more we experience God’s forgiveness, the more capable we become of loving as He loves.
Concluding Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for Your endless mercy toward us. Help us to repent sincerely for our sins and to love others with the same compassion You show us every day. Make our hearts more like Yours. Amen.
