As we begin this new day and week, let us remember that we are not owners but stewards. Everything we have comes from God, and our greatest joy is to return to Him a life filled with faith and love.

Monday, 9th Week in Ordinary Time – Year II

Readings: 2 Peter 1:2-7; Mark 12:1-12

“God gives us everything we need for holiness, but He also asks us what we are doing with His gifts.”

In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells the parable of the vineyard. The owner carefully prepares the vineyard and entrusts it to tenants. But instead of giving back the fruits that belong to the owner, the tenants become selfish. They want the vineyard for themselves. In the end, they even kill the owner’s son.

The vineyard is a symbol of our life. God has given us so much: our faith, our family, our talents, our opportunities, and His grace. Everything is a gift. Yet sometimes we act as if these gifts belong entirely to us. We forget the Giver and focus only on ourselves.

In the first reading, St. Peter reminds us that God has already provided us with everything necessary for a holy life. He encourages us to grow in faith, goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, devotion, mutual affection, and love.
