Then the Gospel shifts. Jesus looks at the crowd and sees something deeper than sickness or possession. He sees people “troubled and abandoned, like sheep without a shepherd.” This is the heart of Christ—deep compassion. He does not judge the crowd; He is moved by them.
And then He says something very important:
“The harvest is abundant, but the laborers are few.”
Meaning: God is already at work in people’s lives. Hearts are already being prepared. But there are not enough workers to guide, to heal, to shepherd.
So Jesus gives the answer:
“Ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers.”
Mission begins not with action, but with prayer. Before we go out, we must first go down on our knees.
