Faith begins where the need to control ends.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus is deeply amazed—not by a miracle, but by a man’s faith. The Roman centurion comes to Jesus, not for himself, but for his suffering servant. He could have relied on his authority, but instead he approaches Jesus with humility. He simply says, “Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof; only say the word, and my servant will be healed.”

What a beautiful prayer! The centurion teaches us that genuine faith is not about seeing first and believing later. It is about trusting that *one word from Jesus is enough.* Even from a distance, Christ can heal. Even when we cannot see Him working, He is already at work.

We repeat the centurion’s words before receiving Holy Communion. But today’s Gospel invites us to say them with renewed faith. Do I really believe that Jesus can heal my wounded heart, restore my family, forgive my sins, and give me strength for whatever I am carrying today?
