Daily Catholic Reflection, 10 JUNE 2026

Jesus reminds us that holiness is found in faithfulness to God's will in the ordinary details of life. Great sanctity is built upon small acts of obedience, small acts of love, small acts of fidelity. Whoever is faithful in little things becomes great in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Father Ruben Galang,CRS (Somascan Fathers)

The connection between the two readings is clear: God desires wholehearted discipleship.

The Israelites were tempted by idols made of stone. We may not bow before statues of Baal, but we often face modern idols: success, comfort, recognition, possessions, technology, or even our own plans and preferences. These things are not evil in themselves, but they become idols when they take God’s place in our hearts.

Jesus reminds us that holiness is found in faithfulness to God’s will in the ordinary details of life. Great sanctity is built upon small acts of obedience, small acts of love, small acts of fidelity. Whoever is faithful in little things becomes great in the Kingdom of Heaven.

As disciples of Christ, we are invited today to ask ourselves: Who truly reigns in my heart? Is God my first love, or have other things quietly taken His place?

The Lord who sent fire upon Mount Carmel desires to kindle a greater fire within us—the fire of a heart completely devoted to Him.

Challenge

Today, choose one concrete way to place God first: a moment of prayer, an act of charity, or an act of obedience that you have been postponing.
