PERSPEKTIFNUSANTARA.COM– In today’s digital era, technological advancement has brought significant changes to many aspects of human life. The development of the internet, social media, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) has made communication, access to information, learning, and work much easier. Technology has become an inseparable part of daily life, especially for young people. With just a smartphone, people can communicate, gain knowledge, and even complete various tasks within minutes.

However, behind these benefits, technological advancement has also created new challenges, one of which is the decline of ethics in society. Many people feel free to express their opinions on social media without considering politeness or the impact of their words. Problems such as hate speech, cyberbullying, the spread of misinformation, and plagiarism are becoming increasingly common. This situation shows that technological progress is not always accompanied by the development of ethical awareness.

One of the reasons ethics are fading in the digital age is the ease of expressing opinions anonymously. On social media, many users feel they have little or no moral responsibility because they can hide their identities. As a result, they are more likely to insult, harass, or spread unverified information. In fact, every form of communication, whether face-to-face or online, should still be guided by respect, responsibility, and good manners.

In addition, technological development has also influenced ethics in education. Today, many students use the internet and AI tools to complete academic assignments. When used wisely, these technologies can support learning and improve creativity. However, some students misuse them by copying other people’s work without giving proper credit or by submitting assignments entirely generated by AI without understanding the content. Such practices can weaken academic honesty and reduce critical thinking skills.

Technology also affects the way people interact with one another. Many individuals spend more time in virtual environments than building real-life social relationships. Values such as respect, empathy, and active listening are gradually fading. People often feel more comfortable using rude or offensive language behind a screen than they would in direct communication. This phenomenon suggests that technological advancement can erode moral values if it is not balanced with character education and ethical guidance.

The decline of ethics in the digital era is not only an individual responsibility but also a shared responsibility of families, schools, and society. Parents should guide their children in using technology wisely and responsibly. Schools and universities should promote digital ethics, academic integrity, and media literacy. Furthermore, every technology user must realize that the freedom to use digital platforms should always be accompanied by moral responsibility and respect for others.

In conclusion, technological advancement offers many benefits for human life, but it also presents challenges to ethical values. The rise of cyberbullying, misinformation, plagiarism, and the decline of politeness on social media are clear signs that ethics are gradually fading amid rapid technological development. Therefore, self-awareness, character education, and the responsible use of technology are essential to ensure that technological progress continues to benefit society without undermining the ethical values that hold communities together.

PERSPEKTIFNUSANTARA.COM– Nowadays, social media has become an important part of daily activities and influenced how the citizens share information. In line with this development, much viral content appears on social media, including sorrow or tragedy content. Unfortunately, the reality shows that when the tragedy has happened, many people do not directly give help to people. Otherwise, they open their phones and then record the tragedy. The bad moments or accidents directly become viral content on social media. This phenomenon appears to raise many controversial questions about how the culture can influence the empathy of the community in this digital era. Therefore, the culture of virality on social media has turned human suffering into digital content, reduce people’s sensitivity to tragedy, and gradually weakened moral awareness in online interactions.

Turning Human Suffering into Online Content

The priority about virality in online cultures changes people’s sadness into something used to make money in digital. sad events are often recorded and spread not for educational public purposes but rather to attract attention, participation, and maybe money or profit. A new trend in dealing with cases such as this can be related to the attention economy pushed by platforms; that tragic incident precisely gets a ‘’gift’’ by the system because of the strong emotional reaction. Here he real case that is related to this argument case of Ilyas Abdurrahman is a real case; when people in the case place references to records that happen, then give help for the victim. The virality of that video shows a trend change: tragedy becomes online consumption. The same thing happened for content creator Logan Paul; a video from the Aokigahara forest in Japan got critics because of human sadness as their entertainment. These trends show how they ignore ethics just of attract viewers on digital platforms.

Tragedy That Becomes Normal

Then, there is also a possibility that audiences become desensitized to tragedies that occur over time. This is also supported by research that has shown that emotional contagion occurs as a result of constant exposure to tragic situations. For example, if people are constantly exposed to content that shows accidents, deaths, and violence happening around them through social media, their response to a tragedy occurring will be reduced over time. This is also referred to as desensitization, which makes a person begin to see tragic situations as normal situations within digital media. For example, a person is exposed to videos of people getting into motorcycle accidents on social media. The person’s response to this is shock at what is happening to the people in the accident. However, over time, the person has been exposed to the same video of a motorcycle accident happening over and over again through their social media feeds. They become desensitized to it to the point that when they see a similar accident happening again, their response to it is reduced or is ignored as they scroll through their social media feeds.

Moral Awareness Gets Lost Online

The combination of exploitation grief content for virality and monetization, coupled with people’s insensitivity to tragedy, has weakened moral awareness in digital interactions. Many people now focus more on the number of likes, shares, or followers than on the impact or ethics of the content they share. Emotional content, such as grief or accidents, spreads quickly, encouraging others to share it. As a result, inappropriate behavior such as filming victims without permission or sharing tragic content without empathy is beginning to seem normal. If this practice continues, our sense of morality and ethics in the digital world could further fade. For instance, in an accident on the Casablanca non-toll flyover in South Jakarta, a motorcyclist died. There was a video of this accident that went viral on social media. The video was shared without any censorship. In this video, there are a number of people who are more interested in taking videos with their phones than helping out the victims. This is certainly a situation that calls into question the actual moral fiber of these people.

In conclusion, culture viral in media social create new etics serious problems. Desire to get attention and benefit always reduces empathy and makes suffering from other people content. Therefore, all people in this digital era have to be responsible. Content creators need to think wisely before recording and sharing the sensitive situation, platforms need to review the system that pushes the exploitation content, and the community needs to consume the media with more empathy. If we are reliable and responsible, tragedy will always exploit the online world. Giving back empathy value in the digital world is not just important but also necessary to progress the technology without sacrificing humanity’s value.

PERSPEKTIFNUSANTARA.COM– In many societies, helping family members or close friends is often seen as a natural and admirable act. However, when personal relationships become the main reason someone receives a job, promotion, scholarship, or leadership position, the issue becomes more complex. Nepotism has gradually become a normalized culture that threatens the principle of fairness. While it may create opportunities for a few individuals, it often limits opportunities for others who may be more qualified but lack the right connections.

Supporters of nepotism argue that trust is an important factor in decision-making. They believe that relatives or close acquaintances are more reliable because they are already familiar with the values and expectations of an organization. Although this argument may seem reasonable, competence should never be sacrificed for convenience. According to the OECD, merit-based recruitment is essential because positions should be filled based on skills, experience, and qualifications rather than personal connections. The organization also notes that favoritism and nepotism can weaken transparency and undermine the integrity of institutions.

One of the most concerning effects of nepotism is its impact on motivation. Many talented individuals spend years developing their abilities and working hard to achieve their goals. Yet when opportunities are repeatedly given to those with personal connections, people may begin to question whether effort truly matters. This perception can discourage individuals from striving for excellence and create a culture where success appears to depend more on what a person can do.

The consequence extend beyond individual disappointment. Research published by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) highlights that merit-based recruitment contributes to public trust, employee motivation, and even economic development. In contrast, systems that prioritize connections over competence may reduce institutional effectiveness and public confidence. When qualified individuals are overlooked, organizations risk losing valuable talent and innovative ideas that could contribute to their growth.

Of course, helping family members is not inherently wrong. Offering advice, guidance, or support is part of human relationships. The problem arises when personal loyalty overrides fairness and transparency. There is a significant difference between encouraging someone to succeed and giving them advantages that others do not have access to. A fair system should allow everyone to compete under the same standards regardless of their background or connections.

Nepotism should not be accepted as a normal practice. Opportunities should be based on merit, not on personal relationships. A society that values competence and transparency is more likely to earn public trust, promote motivation, and create equal opportunities for its members. Success should be determined by ability and hard work, not by the privilege of knowing the right people.

PERSPEKTIFNUSANTARA.COM– Technological advancements and the rise of social media have transformed the way people express opinions and evaluate the actions of others. In the past, criticism was mainly conveyed through traditional media. Today, however, every individual has the opportunity to voice their views directly through digital platforms. This shift has given rise to a phenomenon known as cancel culture.

In general, cancel culture refers to collective actions taken by society to withdraw support from individuals or groups perceived to have committed moral or social violations. These actions may take various forms, including boycotts, the withdrawal of financial support, and campaigns encouraging people to unfollow certain social media accounts.

This phenomenon has grown alongside increasing public awareness of social justice issues. In some cases, cancel culture is seen as a tool for demanding accountability from public figures or institutions when formal systems are considered ineffective in delivering consequences.

Public pressure through social media has, at times, successfully encouraged apologies or policy changes. From this perspective, cancel culture can function as a form of social control that promotes accountability.

However, the phenomenon also raises several ethical concerns. One of the main criticisms of cancel culture is its tendency to judge individuals quickly without a fair process. Unverified information often spreads faster than clarifications, causing public opinion to form before all the facts are fully known.

Additionally, social media algorithms tend to promote content that triggers strong emotions, such as anger. As a result, people may react impulsively rather than verify information. Under these circumstances, cancel culture risks evolving into mass public judgment.

This phenomenon may also overlook the possibility of personal growth and change. Mistakes made in the past are often used continuously to judge individuals without considering how they may have developed over time.

The effects of cancel culture are not experienced equally. Ordinary individuals often face harsher consequences than influential figures who possess the resources to restore their reputations. In some cases, excessive public pressure has even led to serious impacts on mental health.

On the other hand, fear of being “canceled” may discourage people from expressing their opinions. This situation has the potential to reduce the quality of public discourse, as individuals become hesitant to engage in discussions about sensitive issues.

Nevertheless, completely eliminating cancel culture is not an easy solution. The real challenge lies in balancing demands for accountability with the principles of fairness. Public criticism should be based on accurate information while still providing room for clarification and personal growth.

Ultimately, cancel culture reflects the immense power of the public in shaping a person’s reputation in the digital age. While it can serve as a means of pursuing social justice, it also has the potential to become a disproportionate form of social punishment. Therefore, society must foster a digital culture that is more critical, fair, and humane.

PERSPEKTIFNUSANTARA.COM– The development of Artificial Intelegence (AI) in education present a complex dilemma. On one hand, AI offers remakable effeciency and personalized learning experiences. On the others hand, there is a legitimate concern that this tecnology may erode the very essence of education itself-the formation of individuals who are ethical, critical thinkers, and empathetic human beings. The 6th ICHELAC seminar emphasizes something that is often forgotten amid the excitement surrounding technological advancement: progress without values is merely regression disguised as progress. AI may be able to explain mathematical concenpt faster than any teacher, but it cannot sense when a student is losing motivation, provide genuine moral encouragement, or serve as a living role model. This is where the greatest irony lies. The more advanced AI becomes, the clearer it is that the human role of a teachers is irreplaceable, A teacher is not merely a trasmitter of information; they are an ethical gatekeeper, a facilitator of critical thingking ,and a figure who shapes students values and character. These functions cannot be deleganted to algorihms,no matter how intelligent they may be.

Nevertheless, completely rejecting AI is not a wise approach either. Teacher who refuse to adapt to technology risk leaving their students unprepared for the real world -a world that is already being shapes and will continue to be influenced by AI. What is needed is not rejection, but awarenenn. The greatest challenge does not lie in the technology itself, but in us as its users.Do we use AI think more deeply, or to stop thinking alogether? does AI enrich learning interactions, or does it replace them with cold screens devoid empathy? The future of education requires teachers who are not only technologically literate but also firmly committed to preserving human values amid the tide of digitalization .AI is a tool-and like all tools, its value depends entirely on the wisdom of the hands that use it.

Furthermore, AI should be viewed as a collaborative partner rather than a threat to education. When used responsibly, AI can assist teachers in preparing learning materials, analyzing students’ progress, and providing additional learning support outside the classroom. This allows educators to spend more time on meaningful interactions with students, such as mentoring, motivating, and fostering social and emotional development.

However, the increasing dependence on AI also demands stronger digital literacy and ethical awareness among both teachers and students. Educational institutions must ensure that AI is used to support creativity, critical thinking, and independent learning rather than encouraging shortcuts or academic dishonesty.

PERSPEKTIFNUSANTARA.COM– Amid the onslaught of technology and artificial intelligence (AI), almost every classroom today often feels devoid of deep, thoughtful interaction. Many students view attendance as a mere formality. Students arrive, sit, listen, and then leave without truly absorbing what they’ve learned. This leaves the teaching and learning process trapped in a cycle of memorization for grades. Meanwhile, the essence of education isn’t simply filling the mind with information, but rather training the mind to think. To revive the dwindling dynamics of the classroom, we need to reinvigorate one essential activity: writing.

Writing isn’t just about putting words on paper. More than that, it’s a form of therapy that can help alleviate passive thinking. When someone is asked to write down their thoughts, they’re forced to pause, gather information, sort out what’s important, and develop a logical argument. This is where critical thinking really comes into play. Writing trains us not to accept information at face value, but to question it first: Why is this so? What’s the evidence? What are the implications?

Why is it called therapy? Because in this digital age, our minds often become very cluttered and instantaneous due to exposure to social media. We are accustomed to responding quickly without careful consideration. Writing acts as both a calming and a mind-organizer. When students in class are challenged to write their opinions on a phenomenon or subject matter, they are being encouraged to organize their own thoughts. They learn to structure their thoughts from randomness into coherent and coherent ideas.

When students become accustomed to expressing their ideas in writing, they will no longer be passive spectators in class. They will grow into independent thinkers, resistant to false information (hoaxes), and able to view a problem from various perspectives wisely. A lively classroom is one filled with dialectics and new ideas.

Ultimately, re-imagining the classroom is more than just adjusting teaching methods or upgrading technology. The key lies in the students’ own willingness to dig deeper, hone their thinking, and voice their opinions. This simple yet meaningful first step can have a significant impact on the future of education.

As the saying goes, little by little, a hill will grow. Consistent writing will gradually heal passive and instant learning habits, transforming them into a process filled with curiosity and sharp analysis. Therefore, let’s put pen and paper back in students’ hands, not as a daunting task, but as the primary tool that can unlock their independent and critical thinking in facing the challenges of an increasingly complex world.

PERSPEKTIFNUSANTARA.COM– Many people spend years searching for the ideal career, believing that their dream job is already waiting somewhere to be discovered. They often assume that there is one perfect profession that matches their interests, talents, and future ambitions. However, reality often presents a different picture. Most fulfilling careers are not found instantly but developed gradually through experience, persistence, and continuous learning. This article supports the view that dream jobs are built over time rather than simply discovered. Career satisfaction is often the result of personal growth and professional development instead of a single lucky opportunity.

One reason for this belief is that very few jobs feel perfect at the beginning. Starting a new position usually involves adapting to unfamiliar responsibilities, learning workplace expectations, and developing new skills. These challenges can make a job seem stressful or disappointing at first. As individuals gain experience and become more confident, however, they often begin to appreciate their work and recognize its value. What once appeared difficult can eventually become rewarding and meaningful.

Another reason dream jobs are built rather than found is that career interests frequently develop through experience. Many people think they must identify their passion before choosing a profession. In reality, interest often grows after individuals become involved in a particular field. As their knowledge and abilities improve, they gain a deeper appreciation for their work. This suggests that passion is often a product of commitment and experience rather than the starting point of a successful career.

A clear example can be seen in the career of Howard Schultz, the former CEO of Starbucks. Before becoming known for transforming Starbucks into a global company, he worked in sales and gained valuable business experience. His achievements did not result from discovering a perfect opportunity overnight. Instead, they were built through dedication, learning, and the ability to recognize potential opportunities. His journey demonstrates that meaningful careers are often created step by step through consistent effort.

Adaptability is another important factor in building a satisfying career. Today’s job market continues to evolve because of technological innovation, economic changes, and shifting workplace demands. As a result, career paths are becoming more flexible than ever before. Many professionals change industries, acquire new qualifications, or pursue different opportunities throughout their lives. Those who remain willing to learn and adapt are often better prepared to succeed in changing circumstances.

Challenges also contribute significantly to professional development. Difficult experiences often provide valuable lessons that cannot be gained from formal education alone. Managing deadlines can improve organizational skills, collaborating with diverse colleagues can strengthen communication, and overcoming setbacks can build resilience. These experiences help individuals grow both personally and professionally, making them better equipped for future opportunities.

Furthermore, the definition of a dream job often changes as people progress through different stages of life. Priorities that seem important in early adulthood may not remain the same years later. Some individuals initially focus on salary and promotion opportunities, while later placing greater value on stability, flexibility, or meaningful contributions to society. This changing perspective reinforces the idea that dream jobs are continuously shaped by personal growth and evolving goals.

Considering these arguments, dream jobs should not be viewed as opportunities that simply appear by chance. Instead, they are created through continuous learning, adaptability, perseverance, and real-world experience. Every skill developed, every challenge overcome, and every lesson learned contributes to building a more meaningful career. For this reason, focusing on personal and professional growth is often more beneficial than endlessly searching for a perfect position. Ultimately, the most fulfilling careers are not waiting to be found—they are deliberately built through determination, commitment, and lifelong development.

PERSPEKTIFNUSANTARA.COM– At a modern shopping mall, a teenager proudly shows off a newly purchased foreign-brand bag. Beside him, a friend wears imported shoes worth millions of rupiah. Neither of them realizes that in a corner of the traditional market in the same city, local craftsmen are struggling to keep their generations-old businesses alive. This is the real portrait of Indonesia today a generation that has grown up believing foreign products are more prestigious than domestic ones. Yet behind every local product lies hard work, creativity, and a national identity that is truly priceless. Building awareness among young people to love local products is not merely a patriotic campaign it is an urgent necessity for the sustainability of the national economy.

The most fundamental problem is the deeply rooted misconception about the quality of local products that has taken hold in the minds of young people. For years, media and advertising have shaped the view that foreign products are synonymous with high quality, modern lifestyles, and higher social status. Young people compete to use imported smartphones, foreign-brand clothing, and electronic devices made overseas—without ever truly questioning whether local products could serve as equally good alternatives. A survey conducted by Indonesia’s Ministry of Trade in 2023 revealed that more than 60% of young consumers aged 17–25 still prioritize foreign brands when shopping for fashion and electronics. Ironically, many of them are unaware that numerous Indonesian local products have already broken into international markets and gained global recognition.

A second factor worsening this situation is the lack of education about the value and potential of local products in both schools and homes. The national education curriculum rarely includes materials that specifically invite students to recognize, appreciate, and take pride in using domestically made products. Parents, who should serve as role models, often choose imported products for their families because they are influenced by the same trends. As a result, young people grow up without a sufficient understanding of how important it is to support local products for the nation’s economy. When a student buys a local product, they are not merely purchasing goods they are contributing to job creation and supporting farmers, craftsmen, and small business owners who sustain millions of Indonesian families.

Beyond that, the dominance of foreign products has created significant economic inequality. Money spent on imported goods flows out of Indonesia, while local businesses lose potential income they rightfully deserve. Data from the Central Statistics Agency in 2023 recorded that the value of consumer goods imports continued to rise, while local products’ market share among young consumers remained stagnant. This situation threatens the survival of thousands of small and medium enterprises that serve as the backbone of Indonesia’s economy. If the younger generation does not change their consumption patterns soon, local industries will become increasingly marginalized and dependent on an uncertain export market.

However, there is a glimmer of hope. The movement to love local products has begun to show encouraging results, especially among creative youth communities and increasingly innovative small and medium enterprise actors. Social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and Tokopedia have opened opportunities for local products to compete directly with foreign brands. Many local brands such as Erigo, Heystacie, and various Indonesian beauty products have successfully attracted young consumers through smart marketing strategies and quality that is no less impressive. Their success stories prove that with the right support, local products are capable of standing on equal footing with—or even surpassing—imported goods.

To accelerate this change, concrete steps are needed from various parties. First, the government should strengthen the “Proud of Indonesian Products” campaign by involving influential figures among young people—such as musicians, content creators, and national athletes—as ambassadors for local products. Second, schools and universities must integrate entrepreneurship education and love for local products into the curriculum, including organizing small enterprise product fairs and industrial visits to local craft centers. Third, e-commerce platforms should offer greater incentives to sellers of local products and prioritize the display of domestic goods to Indonesian consumers. Fourth, and just as importantly, every individual especially young people must begin to realize that their consumption choices have a direct impact on the nation’s economy.

Building awareness among young people to love local products is a long-term investment whose benefits will be felt by the entire nation. When young Indonesians choose products made in their own country, they are not merely buying goods—they are building a future Indonesia that is more independent and economically sovereign. It is time to change the paradigm that “local” means inferior, and to begin celebrating the excellence of Indonesian products with pride. Because in truth, loving local products is a genuine expression of love for the homeland.
